Banded For Life

Ok, The count down has begun to my first consult with Dr. Irani and I'm really starting to get anxious about the whole thing. I had a talk with my dad and he told me he supports what ever personal decision I make about my life. I was very pleased to hear that because this procedure means everything to me.

This week I need to try and find a Protein shake that I like and I need to begin my diet to loose some weight before that surgery.

My Parents seem to be on the Fence about my hopeful surgery. My dad has expressed his concern about the risks since day one. My mom seems to think that it will take so long for the insurance to OK it that she can buy my FAT clothes for Christmas. I have been begging her not too and to just help me with Dr. Appt's and Co Pays. I have from start made my parents aware that I may need some Financial support if the insurance doesn't cover all the procedure and I re enforced this point today and my fathers response was " well you can't make money the reason not to get this" So... I'm hoping that he now sees how important this is too me and is fully on board. I have not hidden anything from him and I have made him very aware that this is what I want most. I think he understand this may be my only chance at a healthy life. My Dr. says that only 5% of all people that diet and exercise will succeed in keeping their weight off. That is a scary statistic... but explains my whole life of Yo Yo dieting.

I have decided that the Lap Band system is right for me and my quest for weight loss. This blog is my journal of my adventure from start to finish.

Dec 3 2008- Attended a Seminar on the Lap Band

Dec 9 2008- Finished paper work, insurance information, took pictures and was given ok to contact Dr. Irani for 1st Consult.

My new insurance (United Health Care) will take effect January 1 2009.

First Consult is Jan 9, 2009
